We're looking for an experienced Building Consultant to carry out and assist with technical building inspections and prepare high-quality reports for clients, including:

• Condition assessments

• Technical Due Diligence (TDD) 

• Make good reports

• Schedules of condition

• Building pathology - defect diagnosis

You'll be inspecting a variety of building stock across greater Melbourne, working directly with clients, property managers and other stakeholders, producing clear, evidence-based written reports that clients can rely on for decision-making. This role is currently remote, though you'll need to be Melbourne-based for site inspections and regular in-person meetings. The majority of our work is based in Victoria, with occasional interstate travel for projects outside the state.

• Ideally 5+ years' (minimum 4 years') post-graduate experience in building consultancy (known as building surveying in the UK - this is not to be confused with building surveying/certification as it is known in Australia), construction project management, or a related field.

• Demonstrated experience carrying out technical building inspections and compiling condition assessments, TDDs, make good reports and schedules of condition.

• Working knowledge of RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) and the APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) structured training framework - whether you're already progressing towards MRICS or bring a solid understanding of the pathway.

• A relevant tertiary qualification (building surveying, construction management, architecture or similar).

• Strong written report-writing skills in plain English, with the ability to communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences.

• A current driver's licence, for travel to sites across Melbourne and Victoria.

• Based in Melbourne - mix of remote WFH and onsite inspections.

• Willingness and ability to travel interstate from time to time (with expenses paid), for the smaller share of our work based outside Victoria.

• Must have either a valid Working With Children Check or be willing to undergo this process.

• Package from $100,000 - $130,000 (inclusive of super), commensurate with relevant experience.
